Scholarly Research Articles of high technical quality related to the development, advancement, and improved understanding of the internal combustion engine are sought for the ASME 2016 Internal Combustion Engine Fall Technical Conference. The conference will be held October 9-12, 2016 in Greenville, South Carolina and hosted by Clemson University International Center for Automotive Research (CU-ICAR). In addition to high quality technical presentations, this conference will include keynote speakers, student presentations, industrial tours, a banquet, many networking opportunities, and an overall collegial atmosphere to advance the state of the art of the internal combustion engine.

All offers relating to the internal combustion engine, or interfaces with internal combustion engines, are accepted for rigorous review by experts in the field. Accepted papers will be grouped into one of the following technical tracks:

Track 1: Large Bore Engines
Track 2 Fuels
Track 3 Advanced Combustion
Track 4 Emissions Control Systems
Track 5 Instrumentation, Controls, and Hybrids
Track 6 Numerical Simulation
Track 7: Engine Design and Mechanical Development

Accepted papers that are presented at the conference will be archived through the ASME website. Presentation of papers at the conference requires payment of the registration fee (papers not presented at the conference are excluded from the conference proceedings, considered not published, and not archived). Accepted papers must transfer copyright to ASME, with certain exceptions noted in the ASME ICED presentation and copyright policies available below. Please view the ASME ICE Division’s Presentation Policy and ASME Copyright Policy.

Paper Category:
(1)Scholarly Research Article
(2)Engineering Applications Article

A full-length technical paper may cover either archival research or engineering application. Both types of content are valued and encouraged for ICEF2016. For either type of content, the technical paper is a full-length, peer-reviewed paper meant to highlight discovery, substantial advancement, or application of engineering science relating to internal combustion engine science or the science of those components that interface with internal combustion engines. Technical papers with archival research content will undergo reviews based on the article's probability to make a long-lasting impact on the technical community. In addition, technical papers with archival research content of the highest quality and with potential for long-lasting technical contribution will be recommended to journal editors for consideration as fast-track publication in either ASME's Journal of Engineering for Gas Turbines and Power or ASME's Journal of Engineering Resources Technology. Technical papers with engineering application content will undergo reviews based on technical soundness. Examples of engineering application content include case studies and introduction of new engine technologies. All technical papers require an abstract upon submittal for consideration; if accepted, a full-length draft for peer review; and, if accepted, a final paper is required. The final submitted paper must follow ASME Internal Combustion Engine Division’s paper format, publication policy as defined at The Publication Policy Page and copyright transfer policy to be accepted and published in the conference proceedings. Commercialization of any sort is strictly prohibited. The maximum length of the paper shall be no more than 10 pages (fully formatted, two-column, 8.5 x 11 inch).
