Since its opening, the gallery has sponsored more than 500 exhibitions including renowned artists such as James Roble and Von Dutch. The galleries reputable artists and innovative exhibitions continue to bring art enthusiasts locally and nationally, with an annual average attendance of 25,000.
In 2001, the galleries moved into a 3,400 square feet of newly expanded facility space, which includes the Main Gallery and the West Gallery. Gallery exhibitions are funded by the Instructionally Related Activities Committee, the Arts Council for CSUN, and the Mike Curb College of Arts, Media and Communication.
In conjunction to exhibitions, the Art Galleries hosts lectures, films, concerts, and other linked events driven by original perspectives. The exhibition program features innovative interpretations on international art and the broad interrelationships of the modern visual world.
The Art Galleries provide an important public service with the Arts Council Docent tour program. Trained docents give tours to K-12 students, community groups, campus classes, international visitors and other various groups.
