The University of California Irvine School of Law opened in the fall of 2009. As the newest law school in Southern California, boasting some of the country's most innovative and talented faculty and students, UCI Law is the Law School of the 21st century. Fostering collaboration and creativity, UCI Law encourages students to engage in the issues they care most about.
We, the Environmental Law Society at UCI Law, care about the environmental problems that particularly challenge our generation in the 21st Century. We recognize that these problems have expanded beyond the scope of our foundational environmental laws, focusing on health and safety and perseveration. Standing on the shoulders of the first generation of pioneering environmental lawyers, we hope to investigate and act on issues of the environment that implicate socio-economics, science, human development, and justice.
We are exploring opportunities for environmental lawyers in Orange County, the U.S., and the world. We bring together Southern Californian community leaders interested in local and international environmental issues. We host speaker panels, provide career and knowledge resources to students, and network with other student groups at UCI and around the country. We also organize informational and recreational site visits, including field trips to landfills and energy facilities.
And, of course, we hike, camp, sun bathe, and seize every chance we can get to be out and about in gorgeous California.
