We are the UCLA chapter of InnoWorks, a student run organization that reaches out to underserved middle schools students to introduce them to the wonders of the scientific world through a week long science camp held on the UCLA campus.
Welcome to InnoWorks at UCLA! This is our second year as an InnoWorks chapter at the home of the Bruins. We are absolutely thrilled to share this opportunity with underserved middle-school youth in the Los Angeles area to promote careers in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and medicine. Our second annual program was held last summer and was centered on a curriculum called the Eureka Effect.
The Eureka Effect will allow students to conduct, first-hand, many of the experiments our pioneering scientists devised in order to make the ground-breaking discoveries that revolutionized the world as we know it today. Students will be challenged to think critically and tackle real-world problems with the help of college mentors by participating in a plethora of activities, ranging from working with cells and DNA to building an electric motor. We hope that these hands-on activities will not only excite the students about science but help them gain confidence to pursue their education with new vigor.
Our camp this summer will be August 5th through 9th on the UCLA campus. We plan to continue expanding our program and are looking forward to the future!
