it's that time of the year again! Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, and SPACE and STEP Winternships, too! SPACE will now be accepting applications for the Winter Quarter and will continue to do so until 11:59 PM on the Friday of Finals Week and STEP will be accepting applications until 5pm on that same Friday, December 11th.

STEP INTERNSHIP

The STEP internship program offers an opportunity for students to understand one’s identity and community by focusing on the historical and cultural context of the Pilipino community and current issues that affect them today. With an emphasis on the ideals of retention, this internship is aimed to help foster empowered student leaders who will be able to lead community advancement while incorporating foundational ideals and practices of a retained student. STEP encourages interns to become empowered students, future advocates, peer organizers, and community leaders inside and outside of UCLA.
You will receive 2 units from this internship (you will be given a PTE # once accepted.)

SPACE INTERNSHIP

The mission of the Samahang Pilipino Advancing Community Empowerment (SPACE) internship component is to engage UCLA students to think critically about the world around them and dialogue about relevant issues that affect their communities. SPACE interns will have the opportunity to explore their identities and become more knowledgeable about Pilipino history, culture, and community conditions--all of which relate to accessing higher education.These interns will assist students on-site by fostering empowerment to acknowledge their own potential as students and the power of education.

Just like last quarter, internship will count as TWO units (listed as Asian American Studies 97), where you'll also be able to volunteer at our Belmont High School and El Camino College sites; attend free conferences and field trips; explore Pilipin* history, culture, and identity; and develop your skills as a student leader. Plus, you get to meet the SPACE staff and get a taste of the work we do as an outreach project!
