After an accident caused by the deterioration of a solenoid responsible for opening and closing elevator doors, criminal charges were filed against maintenance firms on the grounds that repairs should have been performed earlier. Dr. Stuart Brown of Veryst Engineering will present how thermomechanical and electromechanical simulations in COMSOL Multiphysics software helped forensic investigators to understand and explain how the accident occurred.
