The Student Committee for the Arts and the UCLA Library present the Ursula K. Le Guin Science FIction Writing Competition this Fall Quarter. The purpose of the competition is to promote student authors who push the boundaries of metaphysical thought and literature under the genre of science fiction. While also honoring the work of the 2014 National Book Foundation Distinguished Contribution to American Letters Medal recepient Ursula K. Le Guin.
10 Things to Know:
1. All submissions should be under 20 pages (double spaced)
2. All Submissions must be turned in before the last day of finals week at midnight (12/11/15)
3. Submission page will be open starting 11/20/15
4. All submissions must fall under the category of science fiction.
5. All submissions must be original work (no fan fiction)
6. All submissions must be written word, illustrations will be counted as pages towards your final submission.
7. All Submissions must have a title, and an authors name typed clearly at the beginning.
8. Submissions can also be in different formats such as screenplay, poems, and short stories etc... (multimedia submissions will be appreciated but not accepted)
9. All submitted work will be reviewed by SCA and the UCLA Library in order to determine the top submissions.
10. TOP PRIZE! Student Authors who receive the top prize will have their stories collected, printed into a book, and then put into the Enigma Science Fiction Collection at Powell Library.
