In Praise of Music
The Connection Between Life and Song
Music connects us all to the world and to one another. Its creation is also deeply affected by the emotions of the composer and performers. In this concert ORIANA explores this interconnection of music with the human experience, tapping into the inspiration, comfort, joy, and hope that songs and singing can provide.
The concert features two works commissioned by ORIANA from Nancy Telfer (Of Things Eternal) and Milton Barnes (Madrigals), alongside masterworks by Fauré (Messe Basse) and Holst (Two Eastern Pictures).
We are also excited to première a new Canadian commission that is currently in development.
Other works by Conte, Vaughan Williams, Elgar, Gawthrop, Schumann, and Canadians Eleanor Daley and Ruth Watson Henderson round out this diverse and inspiring program.
